NO Illegal Fireworks Allowed in Sudden Valley
This years Independence Day celebration will be completely safe and sane. No illegal fireworks will be allowed at the Marina or in the Valley. Deputies, Fire Marshals and the Association will actively police the Marina and the Valley.
Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office has warned that any illegal fireworks found in the Valley will be confiscated and citations issued. The ban includes setting off illegal fireworks at the Marina on July 4th. The Association has been advised by the Fire Marshal’s Office that it will be enforcing a strict ban on illegal fireworks (click to view examples), with the support of the Sheriff’s Office. There will be no areas available for illegal fireworks.
Only safe and sane fireworks are allowed in the Valley and at the Marina on July 4th. Illegal fireworks include firecrackers, M-80s , cherry bombs, rockets or any other firework that explodes or launches a dangerous projectile.
Generally, fireworks that can be purchased at a fireworks stand in Bellingham, are legal and classified as ”safe and sane.” If you have to go a reservation to get it, it is generally illegal under state law and is banned. No illegal fireworks will be allowed at the Marina or anywhere in Sudden Valley by order of the Fire Marshal. The ban will be enforced by the Sheriff’s Office.
A spectacular professional fireworks show is planned for the 4th of July. The celebration will also include hamburgers and hot dogs and refreshments provided by Bob’s at the Marina, starting at 4:00 PM on the 4th of July. See you there.
