Marina Dry Spaces

marina-in-winterresizedIn response to some of the inquiries regarding use of the marina by non-SVCA members,  a Board of Directors (BOD)  perspective on the subject is offered:   There are 35 vacant dry spaces in the marina; if  SV members do not wish to utilize them, then it is appropriate to seek to fill them.  The BOD, has a fiduciary obligation to seek appropriate sources of revenue, which, due to our constrained budget this year, makes it imperative we seek additional sources of income.  Of course,  users will be expected  adhere to the rules, regulations and bylaws of this community just as non-members who use the Health Club, golf course and swimming pools.

There should also be put in place a method of determining unlawful users and consequences for unauthorized actions. The GM is considering such an approach that would, in addition to providing extra revenue, reduce or eliminate some of the complaints expressed by marina users regarding unauthorized people and provide a method of monitoring non-SV residents while on our property.  He shall present his plan at a future Work Session.

In summary, SVCA is not opening the marina to the general public; merely attempting to fill those vacancies that are going unused; the resulting traffic and environmental impact cited by opponents would be not greater than if SV members occupied the spaces.
