DESCRIPTION:Looking for Christmas gifts for your children? Have any excellent condition items you’re looking to re-home\, or would like to trade for something new to your family? Join us for the Holiday Toy Exchange on December 17th at the Dance Barn! \nSince this is the first time running such an event\, we’re going to keep it as simple as possible and rely on the honor system to ensure a great event for everyone who participates. \nHOW IT WORKS: You bring any new or excellent condition/gently used toys to the event. Then ALSO bring a shopping bag or box for the items you choose to take in exchange. \nWHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: This event is specifically for TOYS. All toys must be clean\, in working order\, and have all needed parts. If it’s been scribbled on\, the stickers are half ripped off\, the batteries are dead\, parts are missing\, or it otherwise does not meet the criteria of clean\, in working order\, and have all needed parts\, please do not bring it. If it is not a TOY\, please do not bring it (i.e. no clothing\, baby gear\, food items\, etc). Remember\, these will be given as gifts to others to enjoy. \nPlease also bring a bag or box for your shopping as we may or may not have them on hand for you to use. \nWHAT YOU WILL DO: Come the day of the event as close to the start as possible with your items for trade. We’ll get them put out on tables and you will be able to browse other items and choose a few you’d like in exchange for what you brought. We are not going to monitor incoming/outgoing items and are relying on you to be fair in both what you bring and what you take. You also do not have to bring anything to “shop”\, nor do you have to take anything else back with you if you drop off. If you have a need and nothing to donate\, please come. If you have things to donate but are not in need\, also come! We are accepting both food and monetary donations to ensure as many families as possible have something to be thankful this year. \n~ PLEASE DONATE ~ \nWHERE:\nFOOD donations can be brought to the Sudden Valley Craft Fair from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday\, November 18th. We are asking for specific items to create full meals and will also accept other non-perishable food items. Please see the “most needed items list”. \nMONETARY donations can be brought to the Sudden Valley Craft Fair from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday\, November 18th -OR- made at the Sudden Valley RE/MAX office through 3 PM Saturday\, November 18th. Your Sudden Valley RE/MAX office will match monetary donations dollar-for-dollar up to $500! SUMMARY:Sudden Valley Jazz
DESCRIPTION:JAZZ VOCALIST\, REBECCA KILGORE\, CLOSES SUDDEN VALLEY SALUTE TO SINGERS SERIES \nThe Sudden Valley Jazz 2017 series has concentrated on presenting both male and female jazz singers throughout this year. Starting with Western Washington students\, Sage Romey and Kirk Roa\, then presenting husband and wife team Greta Metassa and Clipper Anderson\, followed by blues oriented Josephine Howell and Paul Klein\, it seems fitting that we end with one of the finest jazz singers in the Pacific Northwest\, Rebecca Kilgore. She regularly performs worldwide at jazz festivals\, jazz parties\, and on jazz cruises. She has been a frequent guest on National Public Radio’s ‘Fresh Air’ with Terry Gross\, has appeared on ‘A Prairie Home Companion’\, and with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall. Becky is honored to have been inducted (in 2010) to the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and to the Jazz Society of Oregon’s Hall Of Fame\, and to have been invited to perform at New York’s Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention for three years at Town Hall and Lincoln Center. She was the guest of honor at the 2013 Roswell (New Mexico) Jazz Festival\, and honored as a Jazz Legend at the San Diego Jazz Party in 2016. \nIn keeping with this year’s theme of honoring both male and female jazz singers\, Rebecca has a wonderful singer/composer in her quartet\, Los Angeles drummer Dave Tull. For thirty years Dave Tull has been known as a world-class jazz and big band drummer. For the last ten years he has built a reputation as a great jazz singer\, songwriter and bandleader. In July 2016 Dave became the drummer for the iconic Barbra Streisand and has played three US Tours\, including the live recording in Miami for a soon-to-be-released Netflix special. For those of us who really dig Dave Frishberg\, there’s a lot of Frishberg in Tull. \nThe Rebecca Kilgore concert happens on Nov. 11th at 3pm at the Dance Barn (Gate 2) in\nSudden Valley. It will be a wonderful wind-up of a memorable season. \nTickets are $20 in support of the South Whatcom Library and can be purchased at the YMCA desk in the Dance Barn\, Village Books in Fairhaven and on-line at www.fswl.org.
