On October 30th a member of the Community filed a complaint with the Department of Ecology stating 4’ x 3’ oil puddle was discovered at Sofield Park. Sudden Valley Security received a call immediately after the report was sent to Whatcom County Emergency Management Division. Security notified the General Manager and the Fire Chief followed by staff responding to Sofield to locate and address the reported spill.
The materials discovered were determined to be natural by-products from decaying vegetation. The Association encounters similar issues each year. The Department of Ecology was here the following day and offered to give an oil absorbent pad to the citizen who expressed the concern. The issue is closed to the satisfaction of the professionals involved. No further action required.
