SITREP 18 – Inclement Weather Response (Update on Current Operations and Next Operational Period 02/12/19)
a. Washington State of Emergency has been declared by the Governor and by Whatcom County Executive
b. Sudden Valley roads conditions have improved, major roads are passable with caution. SV maintenance has demob for the day. Although road conditions have improved it is anticipated that snow accumulations will be similar to conditions earlier today. Current travel; strongly advised only if necessary, chains and winter rated tires are highly advised. Updates on SV roads will be posted as the next forecasted snow storm moves into the area, updates to be posted available either on 1610 BECoN emergency information system or contact Sudden Valley Security.
c. Security patrol has resumed normal operations – note if roads start to accumulate the amount of snow forecasted the security vehicle will be restricted to emergency and mission critical operations.
d. Current weather conditions: light snow fall, winds are calm, temperature 25 degrees. Next round of snow forecasted to start at 4 PM on 02/11/19 forecasted to continue to 02/13/19 till 1 AM. Winter Storm Warning now in place for Whatcom County from 4 PM today till Tuesday at 6 PM
Response – Current Operational Period
a. Response efforts have demob, crews are stood down for rest and rehab, vehicles have returned to staging for deployment for next operational period 02/12/19
Response – Next Operational Period
a. Response assets to deploy on 02/12/19 at 4 AM. Response assets to commence operations per SVCA snow plan, main roads for emergency vehicle access
b. Response efforts will consist of initial plowing transitioning to sanding and deicing
Response and Logistics Update
a. Fuel status – 80%
b. Resupply of sand; 140 tons delivered and staged, additional sand to be delivered on 02/12/19
c. Security patrol resumed normal operations, status to change depending on snow accumulations
d. SVCA facilities (Rec Center/Gym) Gym to open on regular schedule on 02/12/19. Administrative Offices/staffing to be determined prior to 6 AM by SVCA GM.

a. Continue to monitor weather conditions and roads
b. Update all external notifications om conditions for roads

a. All Whatcom CERTs have been placed on alert due to state of emergency in Whatcom County

Forecast indicates next snow fall to occur at 4 PM 02/11 /19 and continue to
02/13/19 at 1 AM
c. SVCA has cascaded information on community assistance during snow event to
membership (see hyperlink for details)
