SITREP 006 – Current Operational Period and Projected Operational Period – as of March 8th at 3 PM

Actions

a. Sudden Valley Maintenance crews have been deployed since 4:30 AM, sanding and deicing main roads. Anticipated standing down by 04:00 PM, plows to return to staging, crews released for rest/rehab.

b. Sudden Valley roads are improving due to warmer temperatures and light rain.

c. Current NWS weather forecast:

This Afternoon
A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 43. West northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight
Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 24 and 34 early. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 27. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 6 mph after midnight

Response – UPDATE Current Operational Period

a. Response assets: deployed

b. Maximum removal of slush and deicing to be given to side roads at Gate 5 off Louise View Dr & Tumbling Water till the end of the operational period – Safety advisory for driving in this area; patches of ice will be exposed and will cause that area to be slick, drivers are recommend to transit these areas with caution.

c. Anticipated current response efforts to stand down by 04:00 PM

a. Response will be based on road report provided by Security at 06:00 AM on March 9, 2019

Changing Weather Conditions

Current weather conditions are transitioning to increasing precipitation with the potential of a rain/snow mix and the potential for snow at the upper gates. The following is the National Weather Service forecast for the next 24 hours:

This Afternoon

Rain. High near 44. West northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight

Rain showers before 10pm, then rain and snow showers between 10pm and 4am, then a chance of snow showers after 4am. Low around 31. Wind chill values between 24 and 29. South southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday

A chance of snow showers before 10am, then a chance of rain showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Wind chill values between 24 and 34. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night

A chance of rain showers before 10pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between 10pm and 4am, then a slight chance of snow showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. South southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Road conditions are unchanged from this morning, however, road conditions will be monitored and updates will be posted as necessary.
