Administrative Office Closed Monday for President’s Day

The Administrative Office will be closed Monday, February 15th. Please see our Contact page for a list of phone numbers and email addresses where you can leave us a message, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible the next business day.

Snow Response Crews will continue to work hard to keep your roads safe during the holiday weekend. Use this form to let maintenance know how the roads are in your neighborhood during a snow event.

Important Update from LWWSD

“The Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District (District) recently became aware of a significant leak in one of the District’s water mains that serves the portion of Sudden Valley south of Lake Louise Road. AT THIS POINT IN TIME THERE IS NO ANTICIPATED IMPACT TO WATER SERVICE FOR SUDDEN VALLEY RESIDENTS. The District will continue to monitor the situation until emergency permits are secured and repairs can be made, and will notify the Sudden Valley Community Association and its residents should conditions change.
The leak has been identified under a steep slope near where the water main crosses Lake Whatcom Boulevard, located approximately 400 feet northwest of the intersection of Lake Whatcom Boulevard with Southern Court. The District is currently working with RAM Construction to procure the necessary materials and perform the repairs as soon as possible. We are hopeful that the repairs will be completed by early next week, which may coincide with Puget Sound Energy’s previously planned closure of this section of Lake Whatcom Boulevard for an unrelated project.”

Snow Day Preparations Underway

SVCA snow clearing crews want to touch base with our community about the planning they’re doing to make snow days as easy as possible for you.

While we can’t control the weather, we can (and we have!) put down liquid de-icer on sections that are known hazards in every gate. That will give us a head start before we come in with our fleet of 6 snowplows, 1 de-icing truck, and 2 on-call baby plows. All of which have designated routes in the Valley. Our team includes faces you’ll recognize from Maintenance and Turf Care. Eleven of these employees will be bundled up and waiting for the call from Mr. Jacob Close, master snow day dispatcher.

Behind the scenes, staff from the Admin office will be fielding your reports you can make through this form. Remember, in an emergency you should call 9-1-1.

During our open hours, we’ll be at the phones as usual. If the power is out, use your cell phone to send us an email, and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Stay safe and warm!

Employee Transitions

We would like to provide information to our Members about changes to SVCA staffing:

Thank you for helping us to welcome new Interim General Manager, Glenn Akramoff. Glenn will be joined by Jacob Close, our Turf Care Superintendent, in ensuring that the needs of this Community are heard and that our staff are given every opportunity to succeed in service to the Membership.

After many years of service for which we express our deep gratitude, we are wishing a farewell to Maintenance Manager Bruce Bishop and Public Safety Manager Norm Smith, both of whom have resigned from SVCA.

It is our hope to evaluate these departments and positions thoughtfully before beginning a hiring process. We appreciate your understanding, optimism, and feedback as we move through these transitions.
