Snow Day Today

Tuesday morning, 8:20 AM: The snow is coming down hard and the roads are very icy and slick. Crews are out plowing and sanding. Several vehicles have gone off the road in the upper gates during the morning commute and we recommend that you stay off the roads if possible. Progress reports will be posted throughout the day.

The Administrative Offices are closed today, Tuesday, 2/28, expecting to re-open for normal hours on Wednesday.

Road Conditions Update

Sunday morning, 7:50 AM: All primary and secondary roads have been plowed and are passable. Crews are now starting on residential roads in the interior gates, with a focus on Gate 5 where more snow fell than anywhere else. Temperatures are expected to rise throughout the day which should melt the snow and help to improve the roads.

Snow is Predicted

Snow is predicted for Saturday evening through Sunday morning, although forecasts differ regarding whether the snow will turn to rain. All primary roads and secondary roads, as well as most other roads, have been salt-brined to prevent icing and facilitate snow removal. Five plows and sanders are staged and ready, and Baby Plow is on alert. In the event SVCA receives over an inch of snow, crews will be dispatched. Call the SVCA Hotline at 360-746-7010 for updates.

Culvert Cleaning Update

Culvert cleaning began in Gate 5 on Monday, 2-20-23, and continued for 2 days.  Cold weather has suspended the cleaning until next week.  Culvert cleaning will resume in Gate 5 on Monday, 2-27-23, weather permitting.  This is anticipated to take 3 days to complete, and then the cleaning operation will move to Gate 9.  Please respect the construction zones, and allow time for minor road delays as the crews are working.  SVCA will update this announcement weekly with where the crews are expected to be working.

Culvert Cleaning May Cause Road Delays

SVCA Maintenance staff and Stremler Gravel will start a major culvert cleaning project on Monday, 2-20-23.  This project is expected to take two to three months as the crews work throughout SVCA.  Please respect the construction zones and allow time for minor road delays while the crews are working.  Updates will be posted each week during this project to let the community know where the crews are planned to be working.  Gate 5 residents can expect to see construction starting Monday, 2-20-23, for approximately 1 week.
