Board of Directors Meeting Cancelled
This Thursday’s board meeting is canceled due to staff preparation for Saturday’s SGM. The next Board meeting will be the Board’s Budget presentation on August 17th at 7PM.
Board Meeting Rescheduled to Monday, August 1st

Board of Directors Meeting Postponed
Tonight’s (7/28/22) Board of Directors meeting is being postponed due to the widespread Internet issues in Sudden Valley today. The new date and time for the meeting is yet to be determined, but will be published soon.
Vacancy on the Board of Directors
The SVCA Board of Directors is seeking to appoint one new director to fill a vacant position on the SVCA Board of Directors. The new appointee’s term will expire immediately following the November 5, 2022 AGM meeting.
Members interested in applying for the position should complete a Board Vacancy Candidate Application. The required application form for this vacancy may be downloaded from the SVCA website Announcements page. Paper application forms can be found in the pamphlet file outside the Administration Office.
The application period begins Friday, May 27, 2022 and ends Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 4:30 pm. Completed applications must be hardcopy and received at the Administration Office by the published deadline. Emailed applications will not be accepted. Application instructions are provided with the application form.
Bylaws require the position to be advertised for at least 30 days and filled within 60 days. Should no applications be received during the application period, an extension of an additional 30 days will be announced and the membership notified.
Once candidate applications have been submitted, the application period has ended, and the candidates have been vetted, the Nominations & Elections(N&E) Committee Chair will inform the Board that a date for candidate interviews, Board voting, and appointment of the new board member can be set.
The Board will determine their interview process and date; then the Board will choose the new member by a majority vote in open session. Following the vote, the Board president announces the new director, the new director joins the Board, and the meeting continues.
If only one candidate has applied, there is no need for an interview or voting. That applicant, if qualified, will be appointed to the board.

SVCA Board of Directors is Excited to Announce Dan Pike as our new General Manager
The SVCA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Pike as the community’s new General Manager. Dan brings significant credentials to SVCA’s General Manager position, with an impressive resume of community and regional leadership experience. Dan is well versed in the aspects of organizational management, transportation and community planning, project management, and effective community communications.
Dan has owned his own consulting business specializing in strategic management, communications, and organizational sustainability, assisting organizations identify best management practices and build interagency partnerships. Dan was elected by the residents of the city of Bellingham to serve as the Mayor. He has served as the Executive Director of Planning and Community Development for Pierce Transit as well as the Strategic Planning Program Manager for the Port of Seattle. Additionally, Dan has served as the Transportation Director for the Skagit Council of Governments and was also the Freight Action Strategies Corridor Project Manager for the Washington State Department of Transportation.
We are excited that Dan has agreed to serve as the General Manager. Dan’s knowledge of the local region will provide our Association with the ability to develop and build solid partnerships with outside entities and agencies that will support the sustainability of our Community. He is committed to a community culture of honesty, respect, and inclusion, as well as our strategic goal of implementing proper planning procedures to ensure the membership has a voice in the future of our Community.
Dan’s first day will be Monday, Jan. 3rd. The Board and Executives would like to thank our Management Team for all of their hard work in continuing to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the community continued in the absence of a General Manager. The Board would also like to thank the Management Team for all their efforts assisting the Board in interviewing and providing valuable feedback on the candidates for the General Manager position. The Board and Management Team feel confident that the collaborative process utilized in selecting a new General Manager has ensured we have identified the most qualified candidate for this position.
I would also like to thank the community for their patience during this period of transition. Change is not always easy and does not always go as planned, but the Board put a plan in place and continued to follow through on that plan until it reached a successful conclusion. We are confident that the membership will admire and appreciate the leadership and experience that Dan brings to our Community.

VACANCY ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The SVCA Board of Directors is seeking to fill one open Director position.
The open position is for a 1 year term ending immediately following the 2022 AGM.

Applications for the open Board of Directors position are available in the pamphlet file outside the SVCA Administration Office or download one HERE.
Place your completed application in an envelope addressed to Chairperson of the Nominations and Elections Committee in care of the SVCA Administration Office. Drop off your completed application at the Administration Office before 2:00pm January 11, 2022. The position will be filled at the January 13, 2022 Board meeting.

The Candidate Interviews for the open position on the Board of Directors will take place during the August 12th Board Meeting at 7 pm. The two candidates that have applied for the vacancy are Andy Glover and Samuel (Sam) Shahan.
